Your family 8mm films are inspected and cleaned thoroughly before your r8mm film is transferred to digital. Old joints and splices checked and replaced where needed. All films are hand cleaned then scanned frame by frame to digital. Our 8mm Film to digital conversion is carried out on a film scanner that copies every frame of your film in 1080 High Definition to achieve the highest quality. Reels are calculated to the nearest reel sizes.

The original film could be a bit like this, years of dust, cigarette smoke, chemicals left over from the developing process, and fingerprints. We first clean your film and lubricate the surface with specialised film cleaning liquid to make it less brittle. Our scanners can capture what the camera saw, which is often a wider image than the projector would allow you to see. We then work on your film in post-production to colour correct the film where possible and digitally clean up the image. We can also add a soundtrack to the film if needed.
Using industry-standard cleaning procedures allows us to remove any contaminant on your films, such as dust, mould or other foreign elements which have settled on your 8mm film transfer to digital. We offer a cleaning service for your film's which will clean, lubricate and condition your cine film.
The cost of film cleaning is included in the transfer price and helps to preserve the film for long term storage.
8mm film transfer to digital is carried out on a film scanner that copies every frame of your 8mm movie in 1080 High Definition to achieve the highest quality. Our scanning method records all the data in every frame of the film. An average order has 1000 captured frames per minute, which are digitally compiled and colour corrected.
Once your 8mm film transfer to digital has been scanned, it may still contain multiple scratches and dust particles embedded in the film surface. Film stock can also appear grainy due to exposure settings on the camera as seen on the left of this split-screen example. Using specialist software we can reduce those imperfections while preserving details to enhance your film, as can be seen on the right hand side.

A quick and easy way to view your films if you have an older television and a DVD player. We use high-quality Verbatim Discs with HardCoat Scratch Guard and then print directly onto the disc with any information you provide.
