At 8mm2Digital, we appreciate the irreplaceable value of your cherished memories stored on video tapes. Over time, these tapes may encounter challenges, with mould being a common adversary, especially in humid or damp conditions. We pride ourselves on being among the few video transfer businesses equipped to handle mould-affected tapes. Our specialised equipment allows us to safely remove mould, ensuring a successful transfer of your precious memories.
This image shows an opened VHS-C tape covered in white mold. The mold coats the magnetic surface, making the tape unplayable on any VCR. The damage is clear, highlighting the tape's lost functionality.
The same VHS-C tape has been carefully cleaned with specialized equipment to safely remove mold. This process prepares the tape for transferring the video content to a digital file.
The cost of damaging a high end vintage VCR player by using it to transfer mouldy tapes is not an option that we can afford. But we do understand that the memories on your family videos is important to you.
Prior to sending your tapes for transfer, carefully inspect each one for mold signs on the cassette surface visible through the window. Even minimal white dust indicates potential damage to our players, requiring treatment before processing.
The tape may experience significant damage, particularly where it sticks to itself, leading to potential splits and tears along its length. While we make every effort to address such issues, we cannot assure a successful video transfer. Refunds are not available for transfers from severely affected tapes.
